Reflecting on Introduction to Honors 200 Journey Map
Over the past four years, my journey has transformed the person I thought I was into the person I am today. I have experienced opportunities I never imagined, and I was able to accomplish several of the goals I set for myself as a freshman. Although my career plans have changed slightly, I have stayed committed to completing my journey. In Honors 200, I created a journey map to visualize where I wanted my college experience to take me. It served as a guide to help me understand the steps I needed to take in order to reach my final goals. Looking back at the map now, I can see just how many of those goals I have accomplished. My Honors 200 Journey Map and my actual college experience highlight the major milestones I set out to achieve and the progress I have made.

Reflecting Freshman to Senior Year
When I first started as a freshman, I was nervous but eager to get involved both on campus and in my intended career field. I set specific goals for myself, with one of the main ones being to find opportunities that would help me grow and develop during my college years. I reached out to mentors and instructors, and the most consistent advice I received was to get involved as much as possible. This became one of my top priorities for my sophomore year.
Looking back now, I’m happy to see that I’ve accomplished many of those initial goals. I’ve taken part in several memorable experiences that have helped shape my journey. I’ve mentored in various roles, joined the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, and become an active member of the O'Neill Student Council, where I hold leadership positions.
These experiences have allowed me to develop new skills and connect with both classmates and faculty at IU Indianapolis. One of the biggest milestones has been building relationships with my professors, which ultimately led to an opportunity to become a research assistant. My First Year Seminar mentoring role also opened the door for me to become a Peer Advisor for O'Neill, allowing me to create countless connections with students, instructors, faculty, and co-workers. Through all of this, I’ve honed key skills such as communication, leadership, and professionalism which are all skills that are crucial as I move forward in my career. I have applied these skills to different internships in which I gained incredible knowledge and experience that I will take with me.
Looking ahead, one of my goals was to intern in Washington, D.C. and I will be doing that for my last semester (Spring 2026. I feel that everything I’ve done so far has prepared me for this next step, and I’m excited to see how these experiences continue to shape my future.
